Located in Huntington Beach California for over 37 years.
Chef Paul Gauweiler, studied the Pastry craft in his hometown of Hannover Germany just after the war. It was there that he earned his Mastersin the art of Pastries, or"Konditormeister" at age 24.
Paul's early career and influences took shape in the Pastry shops across Germany and Paris. Immigrating to America, Paul worked five years as Pastry Chef at the world famous Disneyland Hotel and three years as Pastry Chef at Harvey's Resort & Casino in Lake Tahoe.
Along with his wife Irene, they opened The Cake Box in 1973 and have been making wedding cakes and old world pastries ever since.
Paul's son Eric joined the team in 1985.

The Cake Box has one of the only Baumkuchen machines known to exist in the United States and boasts the only one in California.
Known as the "king of cakes" in Germany, this very unique, old world pastry has at least eight layers and as many as twenty, each created by ladling batter onto the mandrel of the gas-fired machine. Owner Paul Gauweiler creates these stunning cakes, which are perfect choices for weddings or other stately functions.
